:o :o :o I was driving to lunch and hit a DEEP pot hole in the road. It instantly flattened my tire and as i get out and look, found that it bent both inside and outside lips of the front wheel. I think I will be able to beat it back into place with a rubber mallet but if not then I will have to buy a new wheel for $386... Right now for the time being I am driving my Dad's Quest back and forth until I get the wheel fixed.

Update: Just got off the phone with Sandy Springs Public Works. She was very nice and told me to take pics of the area, the hole and my wheel and send them to her and she will see what she can do about helping me out with the wheel and tire. She said they have just changed the policy on how these claims are handled but she will see what she can do, didn't promise anythng but sounds good so far.

The wheel can most likely be repaired. There are places that do this. Check with your local tire stores and if you can't find anyone, do a google search.

do not use a mallet on the rims, these are not the old steel rims that can handle the beating, it will just stress the aluminum. there are proper ways to do this. JKS2 is right, there are several nationwides servides that handle this type of work, some even have an exchange service to speed up the repair. good luck.

Here is what I found after cleaning the wheel off to work on it.

Well they obviously got my claim because the hole was fixed.

Having seen the second picture posted showing the crack in the wheel, I hesitate to still suggest that you have it repaired. With that much damage I probably would now look to have it replaced.

JKS2 is correct. I don't even think that any repair service would think about a repair like that. that is some stress crack. replacement is the best and safest option. price wouldn't even come into play on this on. better to pay more than to have it come apart at speed.

Nice, look at that Dodge Conquest. I haven't seen one of those in 10 years.

I also fell in love with those cars when they came out. Mitsubishi Starion was the same car.

I always heard these cars gained a bad reputation for mechanical problems. I actually had a guy in my area driving around with pictures of lemons all over his car with a tree through the sunroof.

But here you have one still running. Congrats.
