I have a 11th hand Volvo 460 Sli, however no handbook is in the car, is anyone able to tell me what type of Transmission fluid I should use and if there are any specific instructions to filling it up (hot, cold, run through all the gears), I had a quick search but couldent find anthing...

p.s I'm not a mechanically minded person so could you be as informative as possible in your responses about any specific instructions (other than using a funnel and pouring slowly down the dipstick pipe). Thank you!!

You can just forgo the whole what type of fluid by just changing over to a synthetic transmission fluid. Here in the states, there are several types used. they have been upgraded as the years go by from the type of car to the usage, etc. I had changed over to synthetic years ago and have not looked back. I prefer to use a straight synthetic instead of a blend just for that reason, it is not a blend. You will probably get a thousand different answers with a corresponding amount of suggestions. If in doubt, ask your mechanic for his opinion and then ask another. Are they the same, if not, why. The more info the better off for you. Good luck.
