Have poor reception on radio. FM does not appear to have a great reception range and Medium (AM?) and Long wave are not received at all, just a lot of background noise. Appears to be a problem with aerial. I am not aware of where it is located and the route fot connections to the radio.

There is no listing of the year of the S80 in question. Check with your local dealership for a service bulletin for poor radio reception.

I have the same problem. Asked my buddy who is a volvo tech why this is. He just stated that the antennas on these cars are bad and to fix that he would have to install a metal plate of some sort in the trunk somewhere. Seeing that im 20 and dont listen to the AM stations almost at all, other than for occasional traffic, i never bothered to get it done. You can ask your dealer to do it, or you can find out somewhere on the internet, maybe even on this forum from past posts.
