Hi All

Perhaps I'm being paranoid but, it seems a lot of people have problems with the 850 aircon evaporator which I understand is an expensive item to have replaced. Is it possible if the evaporator packs up, while I save up enough money, to have it replaced, to have the aircon system degassed and to either remove the compressor or leave it out of the system by using a shorter drive belt? Always best to know before something happens. The car is a 2 litre 20 valve.

Roy

If it empty's just keep it like it is.It won't hurt anything. If you take parts out of the system then you will have to replace them later when you fix the rest of the system. The best thing to do is leave it alone.

So if you did let it run empty, what happens about the recommendation that the system should be run on a regular basis. Are you still able to do that or do you not use the aircon at all until it's fixed?
