I have a cracked headlamp lens (passenger side) and can't pass inspection because of it. The mechanic I used quoted me $123 for the part. That seemed expensive to me and I found one on E-bay for $34 plus shipping ($7). Problem is that in researching how to replace this thing it looks to be a bit of a bear (needing to heat the glue to remove it, etc.) Can anyone verify that indeed, it will take a heat gun or hair drier and many hours to complete the job of replacing a headlight lens? If so, I may have to bite the bullet and pay for it to be done.

I recently did a e-code lens replacement on my C70. (both lenses)
I did have a local Volvo shop do it due to lack of tools. They charged about $60. It took 45 minutes for them to do it.
So at least you know it doesn't take a lot of time.

You might find a different shop than the one that quoted you, these things are always being replaced.

we are not talking blow torch heat here, just enough to melt the glue. it is a little time consuming, not hours and hours of waiting. just do it, it's a snap. just watch for the glue to start softening and then pry apart.
