I am brand new to the forum. I'm considering the purchase of a 94 960 wagon with 132k. Not much in service records but tires are new and timing belt is recent vintage and $2000 asking price.

I read the buying advice and saw the caution about ac blower quitting on acceleration and this one definitely quits under accel. What is failing and how Much is the fix?

It has a slow coolant leak which I plan to look for it with pressure testing.
The idle is rough and "idle control valve" is indicated on one of the OBD codes.(yes the check engine light is on).

There seems to be a good amount of oil on the undercarriage (maybe rear main seal going) Anyone have repair costs estimates on this.

I will check the vehicle on lift for cat converter leaks shocks, differential brakes etc. I'm supposed to decide by Tuesday so anyone taking the time to respond with any advice is my new friend. Thanks in advance.

Ray

just a little more info on climate blower... The blower fan cuts back to almost zero flow under hard acceleration on all settings ac/heat/vent with ac on or off.

You have a vacuum leak, most likely it is one of the controllers of the flap doors, inside the climate control, what really is happening is the recirculation door is closing under acceleration, a well know problem is the vacuum motor itself wears and starts to leak.

It could also be the intake gasket is leaking, and your are just not getting enough vacuum to keep the flap door in place under acceleration.

Some detective work on your part is going to be needed. There are also two check valves located under the hood on the passenger side at the fire wall. See if they are working correctly.
