Just make sure that it is a dual piston BOV due to the vehicle having a MAF.

Looks good but you'll need to get the flanges so you can attach to the pipework going to the intercooler.
If I recall there is a guy at s40concepts who's fitted one, google for s40concepts as I can't remember the FQDN for the site.
Good luck and don't forget to post some pics of your finished install so we can all appreciate your handy work.

But, how am i supposed to put the BOV on the IC piping when the piping is a hard rubber?

View the pic in the link, a picture explains a thousand words, however this is using the hose from the intercooler to the throttle body, best results would be achieved by using turbo to intercooler pipework.

is the piping running from turbo to IC lower or upper engine well, and another question, should i just cut the piping in half and find a metal pipe about the same inner diameter of the piping and weld the flange onto the pipe then slip both cut ends of the turbo piping onto the metal pipe with flange?

I am writing an answer to how I have interpreted your question, please excuse if I have missed it.
The pipe work to the bottom of the IC is from the turbo to the IC, the pipework at the top of the IC is from the IC to the throttle body.
Fitting BOV and flanges as you have described should work, just make sure that there is sufficient neck of your metal pipe inside the rubber piping to ensure a snug/tight fit so that it doesn't come apart when turbo is full boosting.

would it work if i fitted the BOV to the piping from the throttle body to the IC, i mean would it still be good and also where should i attach the vaccuum line to and from.

It will still work but just not quite as quick, as for the vacuum line, it would be the feed from the throttle body, essentially you would be replacing the recirc system with your second valve. Just remeber to block the hose that goes back to the turbo housing.

Just to clarify in simpler terms, where should i run the hose connected to the BOV to? and what kind of hose would be ideal? thanks

Also, which one of these BOV's would be the best for the Volvo S40 1.9 t?

Maybe easiest if you just get a kit:

Would this option sound as good or be as effective as an HKS BOV?

No idea about performance of either, but Forge Motorsport are a recognised company here.

Let us know what you decide to do and post some pics.
