Hiya,

I have a weird problem with my 92 Volvo 440 in that at random intervals, all my dashboard lights will reverse themselves. e.g the indicator lights stay on all the time, the dashboard illumination will stay off, the fog, full beam, rear heated window lights all stay on when they should be off. switching the devices on, causes the lights to turn off and vice versa..

Also when the indicator is ticking, the rev counter goes up and down in time to the indicator...odd

Anyway, this will happen for a few days before correcting itself, and then start happening again randomly.

All the indicators, full beam, etc etc physically work fine, it;s just the dashboard lights which are causing the grief!

Really hope someone can give me some pointers towards the cause of this. Would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ed

So from the sound of it, when the lights are supposedly off, you are getting power that turns them on, and when you turn something on the power drops to 0V, sounds like something is feeding power back up the negative side of the circuits.

That makes sense. Could this be caused by a loose connection or bad earth of some sort? If so, where would be a good place to start looking?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Ah now youve got me, thats one part I havent had problems with, Could be a connection, could be an earth, it may well be within the dashboard circuit board, I guess take it out and check the connections.
