My wife has informed me that her S70T5 with 214,000 miles needs to be replaced, and soon. Go figure.

I have seen dealers selling XC90's with the "extended 6 year 100K VOLVO warranty". Based on my experience with the S70, I feel the extended Volvo warranty is necessary.

My question is this:
1. Has anyone desired to extend their warranty (Volvo only!) before the manufacturers warranty ran out, and BEEN DENIED to qualify for the Volvo extended warranty? I presume the dealer (who enrolls the vehicle in the program) needs to do an "inspection" of the car, correct?

What I'm trying to find is whether I should just restrict my searching for the vehicle to the XC90's already certified into the 6 year 100,000 mile program (costliest initially) or wait till the Volvo manufacturers warranty runs out (in about 2 years for us) and "hope" the car passes "inspection" so I can get into the Volvo extended warranty, which I assume is the cheaper route. Is there another way? BTW, what's a ballpark cost to get the extended warranty? Just curious...

3rd party warranties are not a consideration for me.
