Ello everyone! It's my first time here so i'm sorry if I am in the wrong section for this question! ^_^ The Volvo is my first car! and i love it! :D

Right, my first question is this. On my dashboard where the 3 toggle swtitches are for the Heat and where the heat goes... does that make sense? lol:blink: I only have the two of them lit up these are the toggle switch with 1 2 3 and 4 on it and the one with the red half a circle on it. The other one on the other hand doesnt seem to be working. Is this a dodgy bulb? or is there something wrong with the circuit board?

oooooooh yes i nearly forgot. I also have a problem with my rear fog lamp. I turn them on and no lights light up on the rear of the car. I havnt a clue what should happen lol.

Thanks for your answers and help!!

Tom :)

As for the dash lights, it sounds like you have a bulb out, but I am only guessing.

As for the Rear Fog Light switch, I will explain what mine does, although I have found little purpose for it.

I have a 850 wagon and I have no actual fog lights on the rear of my vehicle. However the rear light switch does work. What it does is basically turn on the driver side rear brake light (only the driver side). My guess is that this is simply to aid one in backing up in dark areas or at night. I've found little to no real use for it myself, but that is how mine works. As I understand it mine is working as was intended. So, I am only guessing that this may be the same switch for you, if so that is what it does...if you are asking about something else, then I am not sure as I have never used fog lights on the rear of a vehicle (although the dashboard switch for this function does have the symbol of what looks like a fog light).

Sounds like you have a few dash lights out.
You will find that you cannot get these from Volvo so you would be better going to a Honda dealer as the Accord and such like use similar bulbs. You could also try ebay as there are plenty of LED replacements with the same bulb holders.
To replace the bulbs you will need to remove the radio, then remove the dash facia around that radio, remove the facia around the heater controls, using a screwdriver undo the screws holding the heater controls in the dash then unplug the connectors on the back. The little black circles with slots in them are the bulb holders with the bulbs inside. Refitting is exactly the reverse of removal.

As for the rear fog light(s), you will find that the bulb has gone otherwise other tail lights would not be working either. There is only one rear fog light on the offside, however you will find that on the nearside if you remove the bulb holder you will find that you can insert a bulb but you will need to push out the reflector cover in the lense to allow the bulb to fit.

Hope this helps, any further questions just post away.

the rear fog lamps are just that, rear fog lamps. for driving in the fog, get it. they are for not getting rear ended. in europe and canada both sides light up and one side can be left on at night so cars don't hit you on dark roads when parked. it is just an extra tail light so that the light is broken up for your eyes to catch and look at.

I do not wish to get into an argument about whether there are or not 2 fog lights on the rear of vehicles.
I trust that in principle you agree with everything else above.

It is not a fog light, per se (remember, no arguing) it is how they use the lights in Europe and Canada. It's not like the front, which are seperate units. The rears are an extension of the tail lights. In fog, with your lights on, the tail lights become one blob, with this, it breaks up the shape of the light as seen through the fog. If you look closely when you remove the housing, the bulbs are different colors than the rest so as to be a different shade when on. As you can see, I also have the 850, plus my mrs Mercedes which is the same, hers has the rear fog lights. U.S. cars don't have this feature as any European and Japanese cars manufactured here. They only did that overseas. Remove both sides and you will see that one side, passenger, the hole is blocked so as not to be able to add a bulb there. I hope I have cleared up an problem concerning this matter. You know, I am sorry, I thought I was answering a different post with the same subject matter while I was answering your question. I apologize for my manners. You are correct in your saying to purchase Honda bulbs. Cheers all.

I would buy extra bulbs because they don't last long. If one is blown out change them all because the others will go out soon after. I always order mine from www.myswedishparts.com if you email them and tell them what bulbs you need they will get back to you and give you a link to add the bulbs to your cart. I paid about $5 each but they have a 9.99 minimum shipping charge.

Hello,

Thank you for the explanation regarding the "rear fog lamps". I have a Volvo 940 Wagon and didn't understand why there is only one light in the back when turned on.

Thanks again!!

H.
