starting checks ......

when turn key to start postion lights 8,10,13,15,16,17,21,22,23,25 (19 and 23 if fitted) this is to check these lights work

All lights bar 8, 10, 15, and 22, will go out after a few seconds

upon engine start all lights bar the bulb failure will or rather should go out. Once brake been applied this should go out too, leaving you none on (well parking brake of course :P )
