Perth, WA: My '88 240 GL has chunks of slivers of metal attached to the magnetic plug in the diff, & is grinding 'orribly. It had run too dry 'cos of unchecked leaks. I might get a few more 100km out of it after refilling? I know, It's my fault, I should have checked it sooner. Axle brgs are shot too, I think I'll drop in another axle comp., reconned if I have time and money b4 this one goes. Anyone know $ for crown & pinion?, aftermarket? Prev owner was a lying bum. He was 23, and flogged it hard! This thing is going to cost me >another $1500 by Dec, I reckon, just debugging it. Then it should be ok for a while. I'm sick of crawling around under cars, & my old body won't bend like it used to. I've never been able to afford to pay someone to do it, so I've had to learn, substitute, swap, refuse overpriced parts and make my own up, and generally do without just to get about easily. BTW, 7.5km/L sound ok, city cycle? (Abt 13.3L/100km). Gee, I wish my old Yamaha SR250 had rego......
