HELLO OUT THERE....MY WIFE OWNS A 2002 VOLVO V70 T5. IT CAME, FROM DEALER WITH A LITTLE BLACK BOX CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY. IT SAYS POWER MOTIVE, PROPERTY OF VOLVO PLEASE RETURN. WHAT IS IT? FOLKS AT VOLVO DEEL, WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR SAY THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS AND REFUSED TO REMOVE IT.

PROBLEM IS BATTTERY DIES ABOUT EVERY 4 MONTHS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. COULD IT BE THIS LITTLE BLACK BOX?

THAT IS HOW WE FOUND OUT THAT WAGON DESIGN IS WEIRD: WHEN THE BATTERY DIES THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN REAR, TRUNK DOOR AND ACCES BATTERY,ONLY THROUGH BACK SIDE DOOORS, WHICH IS VERY, VERY INCONVENIENT.

Its very similar to the smart battery terminals.

Actually it was attached to the battery. I just removed it.

Probably one of these: Battery Isolator. Installed at the factory to keep the battery from being discharged during transit. Should have been removed when it left the ship or stateside distribution lot. It's worth a few bucks.

Yeh it should have been removed at the pre delivery inspection, they haven't been used for a few years now, so they probab;y forgot what they look like/are or something...
