Hey there all. Bought my first Volvo about 8 months ago and love it. About a month ago the idle started racing once the car warmed up. My MPG has dropped from 27 to 20. I know the idle on these are easy to adjust but I don't know how to do it. Can someone tell me? Anything else I should look for? Thanks.

I think it's the little black shaft in the lower corner of you speedo. They're almost invisible, and hard to grip. I dismantled my unit and hacksawed a slot in it for a tool to make it easier.

The quick and dirty way to adjust idle is with the black thumb screw below the throttle body. Idle speed is controlled by the idle control valve (http://www.fcpgroton.com/images/0280140516.jpg) and the throttle position switch.

Check for loose or split hoses allowing air leaks. Clean the throttle body.

Poor MPG suggests a too lean or rich mixture which can be a lot of things, I would pull a spark plug to see how it looks.
