New to the site!

Trying to help my son with a heater problem on his 2001 V70 T5.

Auto heater setting blows cold. Works fine in manual

Any suggestions? Dealer suggests computer replacement!

Thanks

Gary

HI Gary,

I have a 2002 v70xc which I purchased about 5 days ago, so I don't have a wealth of experience with the car. However, I have noted issues with the heating system. I also think it might relate to being in auto versus manual mode, as you described. I have found that even if the car has been running for a while and is warm, when I restart the car (after getting gas for example), in auto mode, the system may blow cold air with high fan power, even if I turn the thermostats up to the highest setting. I have found that after playing around with the system (again, not enough experience to know what actually fixes the problem) that warm air will start to come out again.

I'd love to know what the issue is as well. I'll give update once I speak with my mechanic.

George

For heater issues, it usually ens up being dust build up in the HVAC sensor. Either so much dust, the fan sucking air over the sensor has stalled, or dust around the sensor isn't seeing the correct temp.. You will need to clear it out.. have to remove the HVAC with a t-25, and you can remove the fan on the rear, and blow the dust out. Don't disconnect the HVAC unit as it will throw an air-bag/check engine light on the dash..
