Hi, I have a 1999 Acura TL , and I am planning to buy a Volvo s80. My brother just got a 2008 s40 and I like volvo since then. But I did not hear good things about s80 especially 1999 and 2000 years. How would you recommend it, transmission, ABS, other engine issues? I just found a 2000 s80 110K for $4500, and 1999 s80 t6 same mileage same price.
What are the common issues that I need to check, thank you.

:) From all I've read thru this forum in reference to 1999-2001 S80's, there appears to be several costly items (factory items) that have made these series fairly unstable...I own a 2002 S80, T6 and have had no problems with the exception of a set of brakes (95,500 miles now).....
Have also read in this forum that most of the factory problems were ironed out from 2002 and newer.....
Read back thru the S80 comments of this forum and there are others also to give you a better understanding what these models problems are....
Volvo's are not a cheap car and not at all cheap to repair wheather its the dealer or private garage....
If you can get an extended warranty that covers the major components, then one would feel a bit more secure in purchasing...Good luck..
