I live in Mexico, I took my volvo to the carwash and they cleaned the engine.
I drove the car for a whole day and everything seemed ok.
The next the day on my way to work the car started losing power and later died, as I was driving I noticed that the ABS light on the dashboard was coming off and on, later the SRS light would do the same.
I parked the car and tried to start it again, but it would not. I checked the battery and the voltage was 10v. I jumped the car with another car and it started. I disconnected the jumper cables and it worked fine for a while. I checked to see if the alternator was charging but it was not.
I want to know if someone has an idea if the problem is with the alternator or may be something else.

Car-'1991"940 turbo
I have experienced the same problem for some time now and actually solved it today(a few car tows later). turns out that the carbon brushes wore down to nothing and were causing the car to kill off the battery. You most likely don't need to replace the whole alternator just the carbon brushes i don't actually know the name of the whole module because i bought an alternator from the junk yard earlier when the symptoms began. the module is located in the back of the alternator toward the top and has a metal black round head on top of a white plastic piece. it is mounted with two brass philips head screws. remove this and inspect the brushes for wear if they aren't more than 1/4 inch long, the whole module needs to be replaced. Be very careful installing the new module because the brushes are very fragile. Hope this isn't too late and it can provide answers for you or someone else because breaking down twice on the same highway and getting towed by the same guy twice, from the same spot, reallly sucks!!!

What you should learn from this is that cleaning the engine is a bad idea.
