A simple beginning, I have added a Eurosport Grille with E code lenses to the C70. The HID kit comes next month.
I am debating the addition of the standard Volvo emblem and stripe to the center of the grille. (with a little metal work)

Like the mesh. I would add the slash and the emblem, but then I'm partial to showing off the Volvo name.

Did you just purchase the lens or the whole headlight assembly? Were the turning signals changed also? Was there a noticeable difference with the e-codes because its hard to tell in the pics. Nice grill by the way.

I got the lenses from fcp groton. (http://www.fcpgroton.com/)
I am using Silverstar H7 Ultras right now for low beam and the pattern is boith brighter and more defined at the perimiters in low beam and MUCH better with the high beams. I will be moving to the 50W HID from Sharp HID for the lows.

I'm in agreement with JKS2, keep the mesh and add the slash. Either way is cool, but why look like everybody else.

Looks great. FWIW, I would try to add just the embelm without the slashes though, if it's possible. JMO, you gotta go with what you like :57:

I am encountering a problem with the emblem with slashes. The piece is made of a plastic core with a very thin plated foil making up the chrome bits.
The grille openting is about 1.3inches smaller top to bottom so I have not done a good job of trimming the ribbon at angle to fit.
I need something that can cut the foil and plastic cleanly. An alternative is to go find a recent vintage S40 or S60 slash and emblem, they look smaller than my 01 original.

Tin shears for the thin foil, and if you can find them, one of those miracle shears that cuts through anything. the ones that say that you can buy them only on tv even though i have seen them in stores. other than that, I don't know.

Hi, nice grill, but for the headlights why didn't you go for the euro ones with the round projection type? I have seen them on sell from ebay and a website I forgot. I mean those really would give the updated look. Only problem I heard was that most were made for the right hand drive, and oh the price is $300 plus. but they included the side markers. I would like to know if anyone can direct me to a website that sells the kind I was looking for made for the US. Oh and I have seen them come with black out or chrome style. Sweet! Thanks

E code lenses cost far less to install to improve looks and lighting. The jewel headlights and corner lights on 2003-2004 C70's look more modern but cost about 700 to install. Just a swap for a 98-02 C70. Euro spec lights feature a different light pattern and include a city lamp 5watt bulb that can be illuminated. Myswedishparts has the jewel lights for a good price. Vivaperformance has the eurospecs, but I believe the price for those are over a grand. I was under the impression that all C70's after 98 have the side marker lamps. The jewel lamps make a huge difference in both looks and lighting. I am very happy in how they look. What I am not happy about is the cut off of the light pattern, it is very distinct which has been complained about in different forums. The eurospec lights have less of a cutoff. These are also easier to fit a HID kit with the way the housing is shaped. The projector lights that you talk about come in chrome and black. You can buy those off ebay or other websites for about 300 for the set. Personally I think they are the least appealing of the 3 choices, but the only ones available in black. No matter which choice you go with it boils down to personal taste.

Add the new tail lights also, if your gonna do a face lift on the car might as well give do a butt lift.

To cut the slash I would use a dremel with a HIGH quality cut off wheel. Only one chance to get it right, make it a good one.

Thanks MC70 I agree the e-code lenses have a very good and well defined pattern and when the HID's come along, it will give me the lighting I want and enough moola left over to add an H3 kit for stronger fogs. (something we need up here in the NW)

I like the projection lamps but they were too much out of my budget when all I wanted was better light with a clearer pattern. I can take my savings from keeping it simple and invest in my bars, springs and shocks for 08.

I also appreciate the advice on the cutting option. I have a Dremel tool and will look for as thin a cut-off wheel as I can find.

I wouldn't use too thin of a cut-off wheel. When they heat up cutting plastic they will get hot and shatter. Use something like a #426 DREMEL cut-off they are reinforced. Practice on something else first. Your skill level will determine if you can make a final cut, or go close and file down the rest.
