I have a 440 GLT 1996 and it uses a lot of fuel, it also when idling will rev up and down and will at some point cut out. Do you have any ideas what might be causing this is it possible the lamba sensor has gone ?

Regards

It could be the lambda sensor, (or it could be ant of the sensors really, antything that causes an imbalance and causes the engine to overcompensate). check that power is getting to the sensor, there is a fuse up under the dash next to a couple of relays. if thats gone the lambda sensor doesnt heat up properly.
