Hi, today for the first time, my passenger side electric seat was stucked in the forward position! Being that I remembered reading all those talk about malfunctioning eletric seats on the C70s, I was pissed that it happened to me already at 38000 miles. I know people here try to find ways to repair, but I wonder why we can't collectively hold volvo responsible for the terrible design. Hey, I would be happy if volvo least charge us less then $100 to fix it... Only if we complaint alot does volvo design a new piece to fix the issue once in for all. By the way, I played around with the switch and pushing the backseat back and forth and somehow fixed it. But now it makes me really upset that I have to live with such an unreliable machine, yes, I haven't even mentioned the defective master clutch cylinder, which I am fixing it somewhere else for $1400, volvo kept saying it was operating within normal specifications, but the clutch has been replaced twice before by volvo since all volvo would do under warranty was that. And the problem is still there. Now I know is the master clutch cylinder. And the window wind noise, which volvo claimed was not having any noise after driving it for 15 miles. All volvo knows about is how to sell their cars. I mean, the same complaints were brought up way before the warranty expired, and now I am still having the same old problems.

It is a stupid design. Usually an itty biity plastic hook that holds a spring breaks. Way underdesigned. Not as maddening as the stupid sun visors that always break on the converts though. No point trying to get Volvo to pay. It won't work.

Firstly, have you checked to see if there are any service bulletins about your car and your problem. If so, they have to rectify them. Second, since you are in New York, there is a lemon law, you know. Three times and they are out. Dig. Get cracking dude. Thirdly, and don't take this the wrong way, but if you are so dissatisfied with your Volvo, why don't you sell it? I mean, there are no, and I repeat, NO cars on the road as of this moment that are problem free. Beemers with their Idrives, 80 grand and I can't tune the radio. Mercedes with their trannies, 100 grand for a S600 and I have no reverse. Lexus, Infiniti, etc. Now, I would just do my homework and fight back. Different dealership, contact Volvo NA, I mean do you want a magic spell or something? We all have our horror stories, just ask. I had a brand new Audi S6 that had less than 25,000 miles, wifes car and the engine just packs it in. Audi/VW won't touch it and says it's my fault. Don't think so, Jack. Fixed them good. They bought it back and added some on. Don't sit back and hope for somebody else to start this, just do it. Good luck.

I am not looking for magic spell or expecting a perfect vehicle mind you, but I certainly don't appreciate volvo for not standing behind their product. At least meet their customers half way you know. I had the acura legend so you understand where I came from. Believe me, the thought of selling this volvo had came into mind, but I just spent a few thousand dollars on upgrading certain things so it wouldn't be wise to sell it just yet. My disappointment really is very specific, that is, the feature of seats with electric control has been in the market for a number of years and with all auto manufacturers and so why can't volvo get it right?

Maybe I am expecting too much, I will look for a string and try the tying method mentioned in one post here. I will call my c70 a flintstone mobile!

I agree with you about the seats, my passenger seat does not tilt forward so people getting in and out of the seat really have to sqeeze in and out. Like any car we all have certain complaints and I do with my Volvo, but the positve on the car keep me happy. I like the ride, the look and just really enjoy driving the car. so the little eerk of the car I don't worry about, there are greater things for me to worry about the my seats. I know it is easier said then done but have the seat repaired, I know they aren't cheap. Try after market parts I know thay are hrd to find or go to a wreck yard, I replaced my headlight motor from a s60 volvo does a not make many model so a few parts are interchangble you just have to do research. Good Luck to you.

Thank you very much for giving me a piece of your input. I can't deny the unique look of the C70. I have almost driven 1000 miles in this car since I bought it from someone. Power is great, car is comfortable. I will take more pictures and put them up soon. I must work more hours to pay for the repairs!

Well, I've got a passenger seat problem myself. It just suddenly stopped working. From what I've learned so far (and unfortunately it wasn't here) there's a switch that can loosen under the seat and it's supposed to be an easy fix. I've got other fish to fry other than complain about my Volvo...I'm sure I'll figure this out. But considering I'm new to this car I was hoping for no problems. If anyone has any input on exactly where this switch is under the seat, I'd love to hear about it. I guess I'll have to become a Volvo repairperson. I also see this is not uncommon. LOL
