First off, im new here so hello all!

2001 Volvo s60 5T (US)

My millage is horrid, I get my average MPG from tank size/miles per tank (I use the trip) I normally get 350 miles to a tank if I drive nice, that about 17-18 mpg. The cars built in gauge tells my I get 16.9 mpg.

Anywho, I use 91 obtain, and for the last 3 tanks have used a shot of Lucas fuel injector cleaner.

Is this normal?

heheh, Well, If I drive really really annoyingly lightly, I can get about 400 miles to a tank, in the range of 20mpg. Normal, not fast but not grandma slow, I get the previous numbers.

It sounds as if you are running rich. Have you done a recent tuneup? How were the plugs? Is the filter clean? all the usual suspects, ya'know? try those and then we will get tough. good luck.

Yea I have all new Bosch coils, new Bosch Plugs, and and new filter..

The car dose smell like its running rich. I don't know how to fix that. The nearest dealer is an hour and a half away so its kinds hard to get it there, and I don't want to pay for it.

any codes? if you have a pep boys or an autozone, they will scan it for like 10 bucks, unless you own an obd II scanner.

I have a ODB2, and no no codes... If I had a code that would be nice, at least I would have a starting place.

I forgot about this but I just replaced the pump and filter about 3 months ago.

If theres no codes then theres no way your car is running rich or is using to much fuel (unless you got a leak). The diagnostics on the car would pick up even the slightest fuel trim fault by compairing the front o2 sensor information with the rear o2 sensor. You will just need to be more careful with the right foot m8.

The purpose of having two o2 sensors is so that they can check each others performance and the cat. So the car would know if it had a bad sensor. Also the desired air intake is calculated by engine speed and throttle position (via the ETM) by the car so if the maf was out of tolerance the vehicle would know this also and log a code, ie the disired (expected) air flow would differ from the actual. If the car is using lots of fuel I would expect there to be a code. But never say never I supose.
