I have installed new rubber boots on my 1984 Volvo 240 with a Cam steering rack.
My question is that when I was installing boots I noticed the the right side of the shaft coming out of the rack itself was coming out more the the left side and this causes alot of very tight stretching of this boot went the vehicle is turned sharp to the left.
Can this be fixed by taking the tie rods loose on both ends of the steering rack and turning the steering wheel to make the steering rack even on both the left and right sides? If so then attach the tie rods and have the front end aligned and then remove the steering wheel and center it.
