Hi Guys,
I need some advise!!! I've been looking around to get a second family car. I already have a v40d sport lux and love it so much was gonna get another one!!!! i don't have quite as much budget as i would like and was just wondering what the trade off between mileage and age are? is it better to get a lower mileage car, but quite a few years older or a higher mileage (138000!!!)(FSH) newer car??? I will get an AA inspection when I purchase to check them out as am clueless when buying!!! I always get my cars regularly serviced and look after them well!!!! Any help greatly appreciated!! If the trade off is between mileage and age I would always go with the lower mileage car, assuming that body and other items are equal.

Hi Sam
Trust you may be sorted now. Mine is a 51 plate 1.9 TD. Just done over 100k and runs sweet as a nut, although consumption has now dropped to around 47mpg. It has done most of it's mileage going in a straight line (up and down motorways) so it is only really tyres, pads & discs that have been replaced. Bear in mind that at 90mph (we would never go that fast honestly) the engine is only doing 3,000 rpm so it is hardly stressed. If you can get a one owner from new and know how it has been driven you should get a good motor. Regards |
