Ever since the car was purchased 2nd hand a few years backs, my 2000 V40 1.9T shakes. At first it was not bad but it has increasingly gotten worse. My stubborn dad won't take it to the dealership unless I can find some cold hard evidence that there is something seriously wrong. When I say it shakes I mean the dashboard will move 1-3mm up and down at an extremely high frequency. The service light came on but I've kept my eye on it and that was just because of the 7k mile mark. I've already pull out and replaced the spark plugs and checked to make sure all 4 cylinders were still firing. I can't figure it out. I'll tell you anything you want to know, I just want to get it fixed.

The engine mounts of this model wear out too soon for the brand quality. I had the vibration issues and after having the engine mount replaced, it is gone. (they did it while replacing the timing belt)

also try getting new tires or getting yours balanced, that helped mine alot

okay, if you think it's the mounts, open the hood, have your dad stand next to car and place it in gear, with foot still on brake, add a little gas, you know, load the tranny. usually, not sure about the v40, the engine will shift. alot when it needs mounts. have him watch, if its the mounts, he will see the shift and you can't deny the need for mounts. as kevin posted, look at the tread of the front tires. are they even? is there a weird wear pattern, you know, bald on the inside/outside, etc.? if so, there is your proof that the wheels are out of alignment and the camber is off. hope that helps. keep us posted.
