Just bought my daughter a 2001 S80 2.9 and have had it three days. Today she came home after driving appx 30mins and when she shut off the car, the radiator fan continued to run for another 10mins, even though the car was off??

Anyone ever hear of this? If so - is this *normal*?

Thanks!
Nef

Welcome to the forum. Was the temp gauge in the red? did you notice any antifreeze smell? overheating?

Thanks for the welcome :D

Not sure if the temp gauge was in the red, as she showed it to me after the car was shut off.

:00000732: Was it the radiator fan that you heard blowing under the hood or was it a fan that was blowing inside the car. The blower will continue to blow air to dry the HVAC system out so you don't get any mold. Could that have been what it was?

Thanks for the responses :) I opened the hood and it was the radiator fan. The car is not a turbo - it's the 2001 S80 2.9 liter 6 cyl engine.

I bought the car used, and had it oil-changed, got new tires and front break pads, so I'm guessing that I should also have the radiator flushed, just to make sure it's ok. It's got 53k miles, so I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that it'll last her for a while :-)

I have a 2000 2.9, does the exact same thing, its normal for these s80's it has to cool everything, seeing that the whole car is one big computer. I personally dont like it for the meer fact that everyone i know goes, WTH??? is your car still on? NOOOOOO its just doing its thing.
