I just ordered the 17" Pegasus S60R wheels so I can put a snow tire on this car with a larger profile.

According to specs, the rims call for a 235/45/17 has anyone gone with someithng like a 225/ 50 series tire... or does anyone know if and what thicker size will fit. im even willing to use 5mm spacers on the back (cause I already usem on the front to kill that notorious rub) although I think height not depth on this. is going to be the problem.

My R's 18" wheels are getting a beat down on these NY roads...this is a last option before I dump it.

225 is not going to hurt you on the width, but the 50 series could cause some rubbing because of the tire height. The 45 series is the recommended tire for 17" wheels.

I agree, stay with the 45 aspect ratio. You might have rubbing issues with the 50.
