For anyone interested in implementing a clean and accessible setup for their iPhones or iPods.

Because I'm too cheap to buy an iPod adapter, I just went with the tape deck instead. Sound quality is actually quite decent. If you want to incorporate your iPod adapter you still can.

You'll have to forgo the docking station that came with your iPhone but a replacement can be bought through ebay or other.

1) Cut out a base. This can be any firm material you choose. I went with plexi-glass because it's easier to work with. Shape the base however you like.

2) Affix the base to the iPhone docking station. I used double sided tape. To get a good contact you must remove the rubbery material underneath the docking station.

3) Connect the base to the bottom of the center console cup holder (my model had a cup holder delete). I used screws to affix the base.

4) Drill a hole in the back (or side) of the cup holder and feed you audio jack (or iPod connector) to the docking station. Feed audio to iPod adapter or tape deck.

Optional 5) I added a support bracket to relieve the connector of any stress. Cut out an 'L' bracket and mount it on the top side of the cup holder.

See pics for more detail and finished product. Now you can contol your iPhone/iPod without taking your eyes off the road. It also dubs as a hands-free device. Enjoy!
