I am the owner of an '88 240 DL, and I love to tinker with the car. I inherited the car from my father-in-law, and the car was sitting in the driveway for 10 years.
So, naturally, I have been dealing with multiple "Lot Rot" issues. I have been driving the car for about 3 years now, and my kids and I love the car. My Wife? ? ? Not so much.

Anyway, I recently purchased a "Ready Remote" starter with remote unlocking system (do it yourself), and before I change anything, I was hoping that someone out there is familiar with installation and could give me any pointers to minimize my mistakes before they happen.

Since your car is pre-airbags you can use just a regular test light to test for the wires. I am not familiar with that particular brand of remote start or what additional parts you might need. Post the installation directions for further assistance. If you need it I can look up your wire colors later this week. Besides the locks your car should be very easy to do the installation. My advice is to make sure your car is running well. The battery is new or in great working condition. Remote starters draw additional current during cranking that can affect weak batteries. Make sure all your connections in the car are excellent, this will minimize installation error.
