why don't you just buy another car? dump this one. don't worry about hogging out this one. get another one and debadge it, make it look like your grannies Volvo. It will be cheaper in the long run.

true, but i can't afford a replacement car unless i sell this one for its working value. the engine's got a nasty knocking thump and the cost to repair is close if not more expensive than the cost of a replacement engine. plus the car's good. only done 85k miles.

I understand, but you have to figure that everything used it the T-5 has to change over. It is not just a simple drop in and forget it. computer, harnesses, relays, transmission, suspension, brakes, the engine itself, tranny computer, wiring, etc. not an easy jpb and one that any mechanic who is halfway honest will tell you is not worth it. If it was a 1965 ferrari swb maybe, or a fuelie corvette, maybe, this-no. find a replacement engine for your car, maybe from the breakers and sell it. then save up and get a better one.

that's an option. i know it's not easy but then again, i was considering just putting it into a garage to get it fixed. but i know people who'd love to try the engine swap because that's what they do. and they'd do it for free. still, with only 85k on the clock i know there's another 10 years plus in the original engine until a replacement is needed. plus i'm doing a swap to a v8 in my land rover so i don't have the time. i'll get a quote to fix it.
there. mad impulse over.
