Fellow Volvo owners,
I have a 2004.5 S40 T5 with 35K miles. I just had to have it towed to the Volvo dealer to find out that the drivers side Motor Mount had failed causing the engine to tilt which bent the left axle. Furthermore, Volvo declined to cover this under their warranty because of what they CLAIM is an impact to the oil pan which supposedly caused damage to the mount. The fact is that this car has always been driven carefully &, in fact, has never even been on a dirt road. We had an insurance adjuster look at it as well & their conclusion is that there was not a significant impact to the oil pan & in fact the undercarriage is in good shape.

We wound up paying for the service ($1400) & it seems to be operating well again. I do, however, find it very hard to believe that the motor mount is that fragile. Furthermore, I am very disappointed in Volvo that they wouldn't cover this under their standard warranty (4 year/50K miles).

Has anyone else who has a 2004.5 or later S40 have any similiar problems with their car or with Volvo Service with regard to warranty?

I would appreciate any input.
