I'm gathering information and supplies for painting the big plastic parts on my '06 S40s engine. I'll be going with red to match my exterior paint while leaving the "VOLVO" label black (can't find high heat resistant chrome/silver). If anyone knows of any "hidden" problems or trouble areas with removing the plastic parts please let me know. Thanks.

I’ve been thinking about doing this too. Sorry I don’t have any pointers though. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out!

Make sure that you degrease everything first otherwise it will all just peel off. Other than that, I don't think there is anything of utmost weirdness in the removal of anything plastic. Just remember where everything goes and that you have all the pieces.

So I went down to my dealer in Sacramento today for regular maintenance. They confirmed my fear that, yes, taking the plastic parts off the engine will void the warranty. But, if anyone wishes to do so anyway it will be quite easy. I, however, will wait two more years for my warranty to run out. Sorry to disappoint. :(
