Okay I have a 99 S80 T6 and I have a HU-801 installed with a single in-dash CD. Now I have seen it a couple of times on the web (i.e. cardomain.com) and I have seen on ebay a wiring harness for the car and I am now seriously considering getting a double-din unit for my car. The stereo that I want will be a double-din touchscreen with sat nav and so forth.

Is it as simple as the following:

* Going to the Volvo stealership and having them download / remove the software for the stereo module
* Removing the HU-801 that I have got
* Installing the new stereo, and using the wiring harness connect to the factory amp for the speakers.

I know that the steering wheel buttons for volume and next track won't work, but I can live with that.

The reason I am not going down the ipod path is the fact, that it will cost more for less features than I want out of my stereo. For example (in Australian dollars) it will cost between $600-$700 to have the ipod connection done in the car, + buying an ipod. All I will then get is MP3 music through the stereo.

Doing it my way, allows for me to have everything including bluetooth for the mobile phone, sat nav, mp3, dvd, tv, fm/am etc. etc for roughly the same price, maybe a bit cheaper.

Anyone got an answer for this yet?

hey whats up....i put a double din unit in my 2000 s80...i took out my stock stereo and bought the wire harness for my car....the only problem is, is that i couldn't find a double-din dash piece so it looks normal, so i bought a single din dash kit and cut it...looks great now..and yes the steering wheel butons no longer work
