Here in the US, it's not the fact that you are not modifying the engine, here it is the fact that in case of theft, the insurance companies want to know exactly what was in the car at time of theft. Here they won't pay out unless you can prove what you had in the car. some people are hesitant in reporting that because of the location of their residence. If you live in a crappy neighborhood, your insurance payment goes up because it is an inticement for theft. The same with rims and spoilers and such. The more the vehicle is modified beyond stock, the more you will pay because your vehicle is bait. Now, if you can show that your vehicle is for show purposes, that might be a different story. Hope that helps.

Most Insurers have a set amount of cover for Audio theft - having worked for an insurance company before, I know in the Uk this will be up to around £500 - having a sub/big stereo doesn't increase insurance however if the system was valued at more than the audio cover on the policy then you may need extra cover - e.g. If you had a £1000 stereo system and £500 audio cover and it was stolen, you would only get upto £500 to replace it - check with your insurer but any decent policy won't charge extra. - Little tip too - Don't advertise to opportunist thiefs the fact you have a decent stereo in the car - whereever possible keep speakers hidden under acoustice carpet etc and don't put "Alpine"/"Pioneer"/"Kenwood" stickers in the window.

As for mods - I always used to put it this way to customers, You can lie as much as you like about your car when getting it insured and it won't matter until you need to make a claim - If don't tell an insurer about a modification on the car and they have every right to void your insurance policy - so honesty is the best policy

Hope this helps!

im thinking of getting tints which i think is a good security feature as you cant see in the car but it also shows you have something expensive in the car, but oh well lol worth putting in cause it looks nice

you an always go for a lighter tint than usual. instead of that dark limo tint, you can try a 30%. that way it is darker for the sun and in the dark it will not be so obvious what you have in it.

do bear in mind that most cars some with a smal persentage or tint in them. and uk law states that 70% of light must pass through minimum. so that means a 30% tint max. so if your windown come with 10% tint as standard, you can only put 20% on.

So what interesting item is driving these couple of speakers then?

Saw the pic in the garage and am curious, why are you not using any speaker grilles/guards. In a large boot like that in the V40, even something small when you slam on the brakes, those moments do arise now and again, could puncture your new acoustic investment.
