ive not started up the volvo for a while, maybe 3 weeks? i went to drive it other day and nothing happened, i couldnt even get the central locking to work. obviously a flat battery. got my booster pack out, attached it to battery and then tried to start it.

all pre-ignition lights come up (oil, batt, handbrake ect ect) but it just clicks. sounds like a relay i think. the old man thinks its down to not enough charge in the booster to start the engine. or the booster is nackered.

its a 1.8 if that helps. cheers guys

It doesn't have enough charge to get the car going, check the water levels in the battery and then charge.
The clicking noise in the fuel injection system.

ive fully charged battery and it starts nopw. thanks very much mate. but if i take my foot off accelerator it stalls. i used a real small charger, could it be not enough charge in the battery to keep it running?

Are you sure this is a power problem, if you have a volt meter check the voltage across the terminals.
What happens when the engine dies, any noises or a loss in power etc. If you can restart the engine after the engine has died without having to charge the battery, I would imagine this is more fuel starvation. Does the engine turn over smooth or rough?
The better the description the more likely we can hit the problem on the nose first time.

sorry mcoles i do apoligise. it starts fine. takes a little while to get it going, 3 or 4 seconds but this is normal. it doesnt sounds like its getting starved of fuel when its running. if i leave the accelerator alone it takes around 3 seconds for the revs to drop = stalling.
i dont have a volt meter unfortunately. the battery was fully charged( according to the charger) and if it stalls it starts back up again no problems.

in the Range meter it says i have 90 miles left, or 2 bars, so there should be enough in there to keep it going no problem
