It means safety and quality to me. Given the choice of many different vehicles to drive or to put my son in to drive, I chose Volvo.

I agree with JKS2, plus the quirkiness factor. the fact that you won't see yourself coming down the road, and when you do, you know that that person is in an interesting group of people. Volvo used to mean weirdos, preppies, out of the box thinkers. Now that I own two volvos, I find that a misnomer. Most Volvo owners that I have met and the ones here on this forum truly care about their vehicles. They applaud others who have attained a certain mileage on their respective cars. They revel in it. Safety, originality, and that Volvo stealth factor are big reasons for me. Hope that helps.

You know Greek is right. I was telling my wife the other day that when you see a Nissan/Infiniti, Lexus/Toyota or Honda/Acura, you can hardly tell them apart. But when you see an S60, S80, S40, XC 70 or 90 you know in an instance that it's a Volvo. I like the fact that when someone sees me in my Volvo they know it's a Volvo.

:) The sport series, S80. 2.9L., T6 is just a super vehicle..The earlier models, prior to 2002 had some problems, apparently ironed out for the later models..

I find my S80 extremely fast., great acceleration, but has a firm if not hard ride in the city where the roads are not real smooth....The turbo models., at least the S80 likes the 91 octane fuel., but on trips across the country mileage is in the very high 20's..And thats doing 75-80 mph.....In the low 20's in the city....

If you leave the dealer responsible for ALL maintenance., it will be expensive..
Doing the normal stuff like oil/filters and plugs, you can save a lot of money..
Parts are not cheap, such as tires and brakes but than again your driving a quality vehicle...
All in all, I'd give the S80 series Volvos a solid B+.....Good luck with your project..

Actually these days I can hardly tell some makes apart because they look alike, eg bubble butt of new BMW 7 series vs Hyundai Granduer/Azera; Jaguar vs Hyundai Sonatas 2001 models up; Rovers vs Skoda; ugly scallop butt of a Mercedes CLS vs Ford Falcon/Futura 2000 models; back of Mercedes and Ford Mondeos. Mitsubishi has just released their new Lancer and the front is beginning to look like a Volvo, but the missing diagonal badge gives it away.

BMW or Hyundai?

Mercedes CLS or Ford Falcon/Futura/Fairmont?

Look at the stripe on the lights. Mercedes or Ford Mondeo 2006?
