I'm looking at buying an S60 T5 after I get back from the sandbox. I'm looking for one with between 50-65k miles on it and I am wondering are there any years to stay away from? I have a 93 850 GLT currently and it has electrical problems on and off with the TPS and cruise controll, drivers seat heater, as well as the sunroof not stoping in the intermediate position from time to time. I know it is ageing and that is undoubtably the main issue however I have also been told that 93 was a bad year for that car since it had a bunch of new features and sensors that had issues and were dropped by 95. I'm just unsure about the newer cars and wonder if there are any quarks with that sort of thing in the S60 series.

My Brother,

Keep you head down and keep the faith. Thank you and we are proud of you.

I just bought a 02 S60 T5. So far it is nice looking, handles well, has an intercooled turbo and is really fast.

well that should work out ok also in about 18 months when I come back (haven't left yet) the 03's will probably be worth as much as similar 02's and before are now.

I second the '03+ advice. By then the initial bugs were worked out making for a solid platform that the later cars seemed to add/tweak upon.

I have an '03 S60 T5 that I bought in Feb '06 as an off-lease at ~25K miles. I'm at 53K miles now and I still haven't lost the enthusiasm at driving her as I did the day I took delivery. She's quick, comfy, and great on gas mileage when you're not layin' in on the turbo (long highway trips averaging 30-32 mpg according to the trip computer, cruising @ 65-70MPH).

The only real issue I've had was an intermittent headlight outage that turned out to be a loose contact at the bulb...easily sured up with needlenose pliers. Otherwise, there've been no other issues and it's only been regular maintenance.

Find an '03+ that's been kept up on its regular maintenance and you should be good to go. At the mileage range you're looking at, the not-so-cheap 60K mile maintenance is due...see if you can get that covered as part of the deal if you're negotiating.

Best!

- Dan
