did the same to mine before. there were pools of water on the floor taught it was the boot seal but it turned out to be the seals around the rear lights were letting in all the water. sealed them up and no water since. i also drilled a small hole on the bottom of the lights so they wouldnt fill with water. inside them was like an aquarium :haha:

Hi, need a little help please.

I bought a 460 GLT (brilliant car btw, could not love it any more) about 4 months back and left the side window open in what turned out to be torrential rain. Obviously there was a lake in the passenger side footwell (drivers side for our US cousins). I mopped it up, tried to dry it out a little and though I'd learnt my lesson.

Still, 4 months later, it's wet and the water is still coming in (yes, I shut the window :) ), there's always a puddle in the rear footwell after the slightest of drizzle, plus the boot, trunk, whatever, is permanently soaked.

I'm guessing this is the same problem described above but could someone please diagnose for me based on where the water is? I'd try and seal it myself but I'm a mechanical and DIY weiner and I'm not paying a grease monkey my hard earnt cash to seal it if I'm not at least 80% that the problem it the light seal.

Cheers ears.

sorry to hear about the water. do you have a sunroof? about the water in the boot, when you open the boot lid, i hope that there is a rubber seal. if so, try this, place a one pound note, or if you are secretly wealthy, a hundred pound not, across this rubber seal with enough of the note to stick out when the lid is closed. when it is closed, can you remove the note easily, if so, get a new rubber seal. if it is tight, then look closely around the outer edge of where the seal is, you should see two holes towards the edges of where the body curves down toward the sides of the boot. are they stuffed up? if so, use a high powered vacuum to suck this crud up. and when you wash your car, just clean up with a rag any and all leaves and stuff. if you have a sunroof you need to find the drains and clean them out. do not, and i repeat, do not use a wire to poke the stuff, you will only rip the drain tubes and they are a super bi*ch to replace and expensive also. if all these things are fine, then do the test with the door seals, then procedure. good luck and keep us posted.

We've a sunroof but there's not sign of any water coming through. Bizarrely we just moved house and now the 460 is parked facing up a hill, the water in the boot has pretty much gone and the water in the footwell is drying up as well despite it piddling it down 2 days in a row.

I'm beginning to suspect all the water, both boot and well is coming from one place, draining back though the car and then in.

Haven't been able to try the note test due to inclement weather and work but I'll let you know once I've tried it.

Sorted, she went in for her MOT this week and I got the guy to run some sealant round the joins. He put about 8 pints in there and I deliberately parked her facing downhill in the piddling rain last night.

The floor is stil wet but crucially no wetter than it was before the rain. Quality.

Thanks for the help everyone.
