Hi
I had a towing company come and pick up my s80 t6 and bring it to the volvo dealership.
It was there for three days the couldn't figure it out..the fourth morning they called me and told me the car was ready.
It turns out it was the ETM (throttle body... ) It was a recall so no money involved. AWESOME !!! but however in there three days of trying to figure out the problem they changed the spark plugs. They never asked me if they could do that and never got any authorization from me. The plugs cost 46.00 and the labour was 104.00.
I brought this to the service managers attention. they agreed not to do any work until I authorized it and yet they did anyway.
They, without any problem took off the labour for the spark plug installation.
It pays to make the dealership adhere to what you originally agree upon.
They also gave me a list of other things that were wrong with my car. All stuff I can do myself. Already ordered the parts

About the recall. I called this dealership before I bought the car and they looked up the vin# and told me all the recalls had been done on the car. Wierd.

Any way thanks for reading.
OH, if anyone knows how to change a serpentine belt on a s80 t6 drop me a note
thanks
Neal

The dealer will log all recalls done to a specific VIN number so they will know what has been done or not.

The ETM is technically not a recall but an extended warranty. Recall involves replacing a defective part with a newly engineered part. In the case of ETM they are replacing the faulty ETM with a new ETM, of course they will not do this until your ETM fails.

Replacing spark plugs, especially is your car has done a few miles is not a bad thing. At least you got the expensive part (labour) refunded.

Yea cool on the labor
The car was bought in chicago and I live in michigan
There was no warranty on the car. It was as is
but you are right. It says warranty on my bill.

How does that work if I never purchased a warranty and never got the car from that dealership.

They changed the throttle body and o-ring and an ETM reload(whatever that is)

thanks for responding
I saw some of your MOD pics
cool stuff !!!

The EPA and federal government made volvo extend the throttle warranty for 10 years or 200,000 miles.
