I just bought an '04 S80 and the car idles at around 7000 to 8000 RPM, is this normal. I normally drive a Chevy Pickup which idles at under 5000 RPMs, so it seems high to me.

Are you sure you did not accidentally add a zero at the end of your numbers?

On my T6 7000 - 8000 rpm = red lining!

Yep, I'm off by a factor of 10. Can't read too well....

What is the normal idle RPM of a s80 (non-turbo).

I'd say for most vehicles anything between 700-900rpm would be fairly normal.

Don't know about your S80 but my S60 Idles around 800-900 when starting from cold and comes down to around 600-700rpm once it has reached normal operating temperature.

My s80 goes up to 1500 for the first 5 seconds or so if cold, then down to about 1000 then down to about 800 for its regular idle
