I was installing Sirius for my friends father and he had a BASE model s40. the dealership sent him away telling him that there was no factory system that would work for his car. First, thanks to your website for showing me the pics of the 9v method of tapping into the FM/AM Antenna where the signal is still analog. The pics were enough to inspire me to do it, Thanks. (this model had analog outputs out of the green ant amp, not fiber optic, so ?)


This setup works very well; only a very small ammount of distortion typical of any FM Modulator. the sirius modulator needs the antenna signal to pass through it, so you need to modify the connections (9V connectors) on the input and output cables, in order to interface these cables with the cars factory antenna located in the glass.

the cables in the glass have terminals that are the same as 9V battery connectors, and they are accessable behind this panel. there are 3 wires that enter a green ant amp and they go to two connectors on the rear windscreen. FM?AM ant wires are: the positive signal of the FM antenna is a connector has two wires of a thicker gage and it has two connectors in contact with the glass (oval shape) . The ground is a single smaller gage wire with a single connector.

here is the fm modulator. the ant input and output need to be cut off and connected to 9V batt. connectors. The fm mod must be wired inline between the rear windshield and the factory ant connectors at the rear windshield.

positive is in the center and neg is wrapped around the outside.
