Hi, as you can see i am new to the site and new to the volvo GDI problems.
At the moment the car won't start at all, it just turns over and back fires, it has done this before but then will run ok for a day, then back to not starting, i have drained the fuel thinking it was cotaminated and checked the timing. there was only one fault on the engine management, miss fire cyl 3. can anyone help as i dont want to take it to the dealers and have them put loads of new parts on it that it does't need at great exspense, thanks.

[SIZE=7]well after all this time no one responded with any ideas, after the car had been into two different garages and been told a new engine was required i had a bash at it myself a found something very simple a miss, the bottom crank pulley had come loose, the key had broken and the crank sensor plate had come adrift, cost me £270 in parts that had to be special ordered from sweeden
