I bought a 2002 S60 recently that has some sort of device atached to the ignition switch that I thought was some sort of anti-theft device. However, the Volvo delaer near me said it was a device that some used car lots use to desable a car if they need to repo it. The used car guy I bought it from knows nothing about it and thought the same thing as me. The delaer said it is a fairly common after market device but does not know how to remove it safely.
I traced the wiring of the thing back to a black electronic box that I think is the device.
Does anyone have any idea possibly how to remove it and correct the ignition wiring back to original? I'm afraid to simply cut it out since I do not know how to re-wir the ignition switch.
