Hi,
Somebody once said to me that you can remove the fuse for the sidelights as they are isolated from other light fuses, then once the sidelights are switched on manually they will work. Have not tried this myself as i prefer to have them on permanently.

hi, guys. thanks for the replys. firstly, the removal of the sidelights fuse did,nt work ! i even contacted , lightsout.org. an american site, [ok for other volvo,s] . but not much use , for my 440. but i did sort it, myself , all i did was put the light switch, midway between, o-i . which is off & sidelights. [marked position with a dot of white paint] i started the car & no dtr lights . maybe im just being fussy, but i like to control my lights, at least my bulbs will last longer .

the law is being changed to having day runnung lights as a legal requirement.this is obviously for new cars only but i don't see the sense of wanting them of as it has no effect on the car as it was designed for it.
my car is on the same light bulbs as it was made with on the front and that means they are 14 years old!!
still if you must you must
