Hey everyone! I've got a 2005 S40, and it appears that I have puddle lights under my side mirrors. But the bulbs are burnt out, and I'm not sure how to get to the bulbs to change them.

I know it's not the fuse, in case anyone was wondering. I checked the fuse for the lights and it's fine. Thanks in advance!

Both of them are burned out at the same time? Sounds strange. Are you sure you are doing the right thing to light them up? A quick check is to push the yellow button your key/remote.

If they are burned out, I'm sorry, but I don't know exactly how to remove the lens. I was wondering that the other day. Does the owner's manual provide instructions?

No, I'm sure they didn't burn out at the same time. I bought this car used, and I was detailing it the other day and noticed that they were there. I checked the manual also and it doesn't show how to change them out. It only shows the type of bulb that's in it and were the fuse is located in the fuse box. You would think that there would be a spot for you to insert a screwdriver of some sort to pop it off, but there isn't.

Do you know if by any chance the plastic piece that is painted on the back side of the mirror pops off? Cause I was thinking that if you can take that off you could pretty much get to everything that's in the mirror.

Are you expecting them to light when you unlock the car? They won't do that.

They will only light when you use the yellow button on the remote, or when you use the follow-me-home lighting feature after you've arrived at your destination.

No, I just want them to work. They don't come on when I push the yellow button, nor do they come on when I use the follow me home feature.

I just found out how to replace bulbs. In order to change them you need to move the mirror glass upward/outward, and you take a small flathead screw driver and insert it between the lower edge of the glass and the mirror surround and press the catch in to release the light. Then you pull out the bulb holder and replace the bulb. Then press the bulb holder back into place. Just thought I'd let you know, since I read that you were wondering as well. I don't think I would have ever found that out on my own. haha

Thanks for sharing how to do that. And good luck with the replacement bulbs.
