:00000732:
I always owned Volvos and it always was fine...till now :460:
The radiator blow up and it took me 4 weeks to get a new one.But at this point...the car wouldn't open! So I had to brake in by bending a door;and managed to open the bonnet- to change the radiator. But it wouldn't come off.I had to saw it off because the two bolts holding it were that rusted that simply got melted in rust. Eventually, I happily managed do fit the new radiator. I toped up antifreeze and attemted to turn on the engine. The battery was dead so I got a new one fitted in.At this point the alarm went off. The remote (cat II)ctrl didn't work so I replaced its batteries aswell, but except a clicking noise inside the remote, nothing happened. No central locking and no alarm responding. The boot is unopenable and the key doesn't open anything. The only door that I can open is the drivers(which I broke). When I turn the ignition(or when I simply get into the car,the alarm starts. I opened all the covers around the steering and underneath in order to locate the alarm and immobilizer and disconnect them but I cannot find anything. In the middwhile two rear tyres went flat from standing so long. My car is simply falling apart. Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of this crazy alarm and immobilizer and enjoy my car ?! Thank you very much :liebe011:
Hopefully :amen:

Oh, man... One after another, eh?
Sorry to hear of your troubles.

But to answer, i really dont know how you could, aside from getting help from an authorised Volvo dealer.

Sounds like the computer needs to relearn everything since the battery was dead. See if you can hook up an OBD reader and see what the codes are. I agree that a dealer may be the best bet at this time.

I had the same alarm problem on my 1997 850.

If the alarm is anything like mine, there is a relay in the relay panel which is located under the dash. Access it by removing the panel that wraps around the bottom of the steering column. On mine there is a 210-211 relay unit. On the 210 side of the relay, I jumpered the 50E and 50F terminals. This bypasses the immobilizer. There is a bypass relay 210 available from Volvo. The parts guy had never heard of it when I asked about it. When it arrived, it turned out to be exactly what I thought it was going to be - a plastic box shaped like the relay with a jumper inside - for $13.

Good luck.

Tom
