Im in need of some new speakers for my 740 sedan. It has the 4-speaker setup; one in each door. Im looking at crutchfield.com because they only show speakers that fit your specific car. I guess the speaker size is 5-1/4" if this isn't true, or if I should buy smaller 4'' let me know. Also, they have 3-way speakers and 2-way speakers for the same price (49.99 a pair) I read somewhere that you should put 3-ways in the front and 2-ways in the back (the 3-ways are Kenwood KFC-1361S and the 2-ways are Pioneer TS-G1341R) Is that a good idea, or should I get all same-way speakers that are the same brand? Any advice/experience from this would mean a lot, thanks.

Hi Biliouschee.

Well i`m no expert in ICE, but I was a sound engineer many years ago.

Yes you should get the 5-1/4" as the 4" ones will be harder to fix correctly.

The reasoning for having 3 way speakers in the front is due to the frequency range of them and as you as the driver will be seated in the front of the car you will benifit from the extra range that the speakers produce, of course should you wish to pass on the same effects to your rear seated passengers then fitting 3 way units to the rear would be effective.

Dont forget though the use of individual `tweeter` units for that extra top end range and for the low range an amp and large bass bin are required.

Hope thats of some help

Regards

AF
