About how much would it cost to replace the headliner on an '89 740 sedan? I would do it myself, I just don't have time or energy to do it, so I would need an average estimate of time, labor & materials from average shops costs

Dealer will charge you about $2K. IPD does sell a kit to do it. $109

Best option is probably buy the kit and have someone install it. I would say 4 to 5 hours to do it right. You do know you have to pull the windshield to get it in the car.

That’s not true – The Rear Window DOES NOT NEED TO BE REMOVED!

The Headliner Board on a 740 sedan will only come out the front passenger door, no windows or seats need to be removed at all.

The board will exit without having to bend or damage the board includes w/ or wo/sunroof

NOTE: Make sure you request the Trim Shop or Upholstery Shop to install the 1/8th inch Headliner Material which is designed for your car to be installed on your Board not the ¼ inch used by WLS and Other Shops.

Also at time the Headliner Board is out make sure the shop removes the Sunroof Drain Tubes from the lower tub assembly and blow out your drain tubes to make sure their free of debris that will clog the lines and water will backup and come into the car damaging your new Material you just installed.

Blowing out all 4 Drain Tube Lines can only be done when the Board is removed.
