I have a 2002 Volvo V40 1.9D and the other day the ECC fan developed a fault.

The fan is on all the time regardless of the setting. If the air con is on when I switch to 0 the air con goes off but the fan is still on.

I've read a fair few posts and most say to check the heater transistor. A few say it's behind the glove box and some say it's under the passenger footwell so I'm wondering if anyone had a better idea as I'm at a loss?

Its most probably the resistor pack which is located on the fan unit under the passenger side of the dash(UK cars anyway).

OK - thanks everyone

I seem to have the exact same car with the exact same issue

If anyone can help, what are the steps I need to take, baring in mind I'm not too technical
