I have MULTIPLE problems with my 2001 C70 HPT convertible. VERY ANNOYING stupid problems. I am going to address them today and start fixing. I searched a bit and I apologize if some of these are answered but I just thought Id lay em out.

1. The drivers side door lock is sticking. In hot weather, it wont lock or unlock. It tries and will work if I "help" it. Is this just something that I can clean off inside?

2. both the rings around the door lock poles have broken off and are gone. Where can I get these.

3. Both front windows make a crunching sound when they roll up like they are gonna BREAK.. and when they go down, they go CLUNK really hard. Is that an adjustment?

4. Sometimes the top thinks its down, so I stop and press the buttom to raise it, and it starts LOWERING IT!!! It goes almost to finish lowering it, THEN it figures out im pressing UP and not down and it raises it back and things are good. It happens about every 3rd time I start up the car in the morning.

4.5 Also RE the top, there is a bunch of light brown thin foamy material that is falling out of the top when I open and close it... its just shredded up and flimsy... what is that?
5. The doors appear to be sagging. They are really hard to close. You have to slam them. And hard to open too. Is this common? WHat is best way to fix?

6. The fabric around the rear window seems to be peeling away from the window. Can I just glue that back into place?

7. The brakes PULSE when I press on them hard but not hard enough to engage the ABS. THis is after Ive had a complete brake job.

8. The leather wore quite quickly and is cracking in places. My Lexus is not the same way... should I just get the seats recovered or will it do it again due to it being a convertible.

9. The steering wheel gets VERY DIRTY and gummy and I have to clean it often. So do the window and door lock buttons. What is the magic chemical that will get this stuff off without removing the paint off the switches!?!?

10. The little hose that cools the computer on the front left as you are looking into the engine compartment ... the accordian part has all busted out... really cheap for a volvo. Should I just tape it up or leave it busted or what? Is it really important?

11. The drivers side visor snapped off so I replaced it and a year later it busted off again in my hand. Im not a rough guy, I just pulled it down and it broke at the pivot point on the right.

12. The front wheels get SUPER dirty very quickly. I have had 3 brake jobs all with different types of pads and it hasnt helped.

13. I have replaced the right motor mount 2 times already... it seems to wear out quicky.

14. The drivers side headlight wiper sticks straight up after I turn on the water spray and sticks up and WONT go down, until I do it several times again, or sometimes it just eventually goes down by itself. I have taken it off and on and made sure it wasnt slipping. It just sticks up stiff and you cant move it. Is it taking Viagra?

15. The little plastic line that holds the gas cap to the car snapped off just the other day! argh... How do you fix that? It seems like you have to replace the whole cap.

This car has 90k miles on it and I dont treat it hard... it just seems to be falling apart around me. I dont leave the top down in the sun. I dont race it. I change the oil regularly, and take it in for the xk mile services...

Im sure there is more I cant remember but this is the stuff that makes me NEVER EVER wanna buy a Volvo again. This is my first volvo, but about my 20th car and Ive NEVER had a car degrade as quickly as this one has just in the 4 years I have owned it. It was almost perfect when I bought it from the dealer.

Sounds as if your car is worn out. All the problems you listed are they being addressed
1 at a time? Or will you just live with them the way they are? Would you fix some of the problems yourself, or just pay someone to do it? The two problems listed that I am about to address are the intermittent drivers lock when its hot, and the broken gas cap tether line. If you fixed these items, please let me know how this was done. Thanks

Mine did this too. i would assume it's a dealer item

This is the thin layer of foam liner between the top and the mechanics of your top. It is supposed to protect the fabric part of your top from the metal parts of your top. It seems as if Volvo didn't make this part very well. I have ton of it coming out as well. Looks like burnt flesh hanging out of my top and usually goes everywhere when you put the top down.

Sounds like the bushings are bad. Not sure if the dorr hinges are welded or bolted on(I haven't looked) but either you replace the bushings or replace the entire hinge set.

This seems to be the particular kind of Leather Volvo uses, doesn't seem to be high quality leather or maybe it needs special conditioner than mine and yours never got. Mine are the same way, 409 cleaner seems to work pretty good without stripping any paint off but spray it on a cloth and wipe, don't spray it directly on the switches.

My passenger side is broke off and the driverside is on it's way out as well. I plan to remove them and just cap them off unless i can find a suitable replacement other than Vovlo's because they are made with britle plastic. I never use them anyways..

We all have this problem. Get Ceramic brake pads, front and rear. They are more expensive but they almost eliminate all brake dust.
13. I have replaced the right motor mount 2 times already... it seems to wear out quicky.
Sounds like maybe one or more of the other motor mounts are bad as well. Usually if one is bad, it will wear the others out from doing twice the work.
