After $4,000, I'm driving my 99 S80 T6 again & she almost feels like a brand new car. Besides engine, also replaced: radiator (Sachs), struts (KYB's), front rotors (Zimmerman) & pads (Ate), headlight bulbs (Osram Silverstar + 50%), turn signal bulbs (Sylvania Silverstar) & new foglights (Volvo). Not bad for the money (although I should have traded her in). Now here's the bummer: When I turn in either direction (most notably when cold), I get a low-pitched whining noise. The mechanic says it's the brakes, but it's been two weeks & I figure they would have settled in by now. Also, when I crank the wheel hard, I get a loud clunk (it sounds like it's coming from the right side). No explanation for that one. Could it be the struts settling in? Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds like a CV Joint to me...check the rubber boots to see if they are cracked and lubrication has leaked out. Good Luck and Happy Motoring...
